Hi - I’m Neil. I do AI research at Duolingo. I have a PhD in Statistics and Data Science from CMU.

I was fortunate enough to be advised by Aaditya Ramdas.

I’m interested in various topics in statistics and machine learning, such as multiple testing, post-selection inference, anytime-valid inference, active labeling, e-values, and their applications to LLMs.

I am grateful to Justin Khim, Pradeep Ravikumar, and David P. Woodruff for showing me the ropes of how to do theory research.

In my undergrad, I had a stint of working on natural language processing applications, and had the fortune of working with Zhou Yu on dialog agents and Graham Neubig on machine translation.
